Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensive Care Physician. He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (1995) and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. He further trained in the UK (1997-1999), working at the Royal Hospital, London and Royal Infirmary, Sheffield, among others and was at the James Paget Teaching Hospital, Gt. Yarmouth, UK (Feb-Aug 2005) where he trained in Intensive Care Medicine. He is an invited speaker locally and internationally and an avid author of over 30 published scientific articles. Obashina was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1980 as a 2LT, rose to command the Nigerian Army Medical Corps as a Maj Gen and voluntarily retired in 2015. He was a Visiting Associate Professor of Anaesthesia to the Kaduna State University between 2014-2017. He is the current President, Critical Care Society of Nigeria and was elected in Nov 2017 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as a Member of Council of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM). He is a Member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (mni) and has mentored and supervised over 8 successful Fellowship Dissertations in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
